Learn the Art of Video Production On-Location in Costa Rica!

Although MAC Costa Rica offers professional production support to commerical film-makers and event producers, our daily bread is earned by providing a unique learning experience for students and others who want to test and explore their creativity amidst the unrivalled filming and production locations that Costa Rica has to offer.  Our expert guidance and practical support from concept through post-production will ensure you have an unforgettable film-making adventure in the tropics, where you'll experience the newest - as well as some of the old tried and true - techniques of video and mixed media production, in a professional but unintimidating atmosphere.  Our programs are designed to give you enough time planning, shooting and editing to produce a short finished film around 6-9 minutes in length, but you can mix and match your production resources and time to your liking  - for example, swapping a days edit for an extra days shoot. You will have a choice of crew/staff to assist you through the production, and a choice of locations (see Programs and Rates and Where It All Happens) - but the story, scripting and production design will all come from you.  We do require however that you write and send us a short treatment before arriving, so we may prepare the logistics to handle your requirements.  Obviously, once you are on location things may change a little, and your story may take some unexpected twists and turns, but that's all part of the real-world experience that is Production - but we'll be there every step of the way to make sure you are able to achieve your plan. As they say, if you don't have a plan, you can't change it!  Bring a friend or collaborator along and split the production costs (Room/Board/Transportation for additional crew members you bring is only $100 a day if you share a room), or even cast members if you want to make a short dramatic piece (we can arrange additional accomodations nearby if necessary, as our primary crew lodging spaces are limited).
